[edit] A Prospectus on the Obstacles Inhibiting the Implementation of Advanced Artificial Neural Systems
At this time, there exist only a handful of biologically accurate computational neural models. The goal of this work is to focus on areas that may bring about the biggest leaps in our ability to model advanced neural functions. It is not intended to be a complete list, merely a look at some prominent obstacles and the implications to the field if they can be solved. These obstacles can be generalized into two broad categories; each can be broken down into many further subcategories.
- Computational - Modeling and algorithm implementation
- Biological - Experiments and knowledge
