[edit] What is it?
SpAcAn (Spontaneous Activity Analysis) is a collection if IGOR Pro functions for the detection and analysis of spontaneously occuring (non-triggered) events in electrophysiological recordings. SpAcAn was originally designed to facilitate the analysis of spontaneous synaptic activity in whole-cell recordings, but has also been used successfully to detect and analyze spikes or rapid changes in fluorescence signals.
Disclaimer: Copies of this code should be distributed with their original SpAcAn identification headers. Any code derived from SpAcAn should not be sold for commercial purposes.
SpAcAn is hosted at: http://www.spacan.net and http://www.igorexchange.com/project/SpAcAn
[edit] SpAcAn’s main features:
- An easy-to-use graphical user interface.
- Two-channel detection and analysis, with the possibility to compute easily correlograms and event-triggered averages.
- A keyboard mode to browse through detected events and select them.
- The possibility to fit functions on the time course of individual events.
- The possibility to compute the integral of the events.
- A support for displaying easily common plots.
[edit] Download and install
[edit] Instructions
- Extract the files from the .zip file. Copy the extracted files to the "Igor Procedure" folder. Under Windows, this folder is usually located at: "C:\Program Files\Wavemetrics\Igor Pro Folder\Igor Procedures\". If you are running Igor PRO on GNU/Linux via Wine, it is probably at: ".wine/drive_c/Program Files/Wavemetrics/Igor Pro Folder/Igor Procedures/".
- Go to the "Igor Pro Folder\More Extensions\Utilities" folder. Create a shortcut for the file "GetInputState.xop" and move it to the folder "Igor Pro Folder\Igor Extensions\". This will enable SpAcAn to get inputs from the keyboard.
- Launch Igor. The SpAcAn drop-down menu should appear on Igor's toolbar.
